This week we meet the hugely INSPIRING entrepreneur Davinia Tomlinson who is mum to two little girls (aged 4 and 15 months) and the founder of rainchq - a brand new concept in financial services designed to help women TAKE CONTROL of their financial futures
Davinia explains…’Women blaze a trail in whichever field we choose to pursue. Except one: mastery of our finances. For many of us, putting the building blocks in place to secure our financial futures remains a dark art, one that we approach with caution. But it doesn’t need to be this way.’
To find about more head over to www.rainchq.com and take a read of Davinia’s ‘Mama Meet’s’ Q&A here to find out how she makes it work…
What time did you wake up this morning?
What was your very first thought of the day?
What am I going to have for breakfast?
What are your 3 essentials for getting up, out and at 'em?
A 10 minute mindfulness session with the Calm app, a 20 minute Brendon Burchard podcast and some kind of exercise. I can't cope without working out - I have so much excess energy, I need an outlet for it!
Describe a typical working morning?
Get the girls fed, bathed, and off to school and nursery, followed by a 30 minute power walk then breakfast and a review of my priorities for that day so I'm ready to go by 9am.
Why did you decide to set up your business?
Because I love the world of finance but recognised a real need that had yet to be adequately fulfilled by the established institutions so felt motivated to do something about it. I've also always harboured a secret desire to work for myself so I'm over the moon to be living my dream, despite the hard work.
What's the best part of your job?
Knowing that rainchq has the potential to help transform women's lives by giving them greater control over how they plan for the future.
#1 tip for juggling work and family life?
Accept that there won't be an exactly even split between both every single day but as long as you're clear on your priorities and are able to work towards them gradually every day, you should consider that a win.
The happiest moment in your day?
School and nursery pick up time.
The hardest moment in your day?
Bedtime - it's like running a marathon every day! V is an absolute hype queen so it takes a lot to wind her down.
Most overused word of the day?
Once the kids are in bed I...
Read and listen to music.
Top 3 local gems?
Plexal - a brilliant coworking space at the heart of the Olympic Park, Mare St Market which is a kind of microcosm of east london living, working and eating and Columbia Rd flower market for a springtime sunday stroll.
Best piece of advice for fellow Mum's...
You've got this. Don't compare yourself and don't talk yourself down. And ALWAYS make time for regular sessions alone doing something that uplifts you. There's no martyrdom in self-neglect.
