What time did you wake up this morning?
6.30am. I set my alarm at this time every morning as we leave for school at 8am and it's a mad dash otherwise.
What was your very first thought of the day?
The first thing I do every morning is book my gym classes for that day the following week. The bookings open at 6.30am and for some of my classes you need to book within 10 mins to get in. Getting myself to the gym each week is hugely important to me. I often prioritise it over other things because it's part of what keeps me ticking these days, both my body and mind.
What are your 3 essentials for getting up, out and at 'em?
Networking has been key for me and my business. If you get an opportunity to go out and meet new people it can be really scary but these things in my experience are always positive and worth doing. Going out of your comfort zone on a regular basis will lead to continual personal develop and opportunities. Another scary thing to do but so so positive. Believe in yourself beyond reason. You can achieve your dreams and there is no reason why not.
Describe a typical morning.
First of all I have to get my tribe off to school which requires 3 separate drop offs each morning and takes about an hour in total. Once they are all where they need to be I often go straight off to a wardrobe edit or personal shopping so we can start at about 9.30ish.
If I'm wardrobe editing we will start with identifying the client's colour season, then we discuss body shape and the guidance around dressing for a particular body shape before we then go through the wardrobe. I find that sitting down at the start to talk about colour and shape is so helpful as when the client then starts to try things on I can reinforce everything we have discussed already with the clothes they are wearing. I will take to time to explain why something works or does not work giving them the knowledge and tools to have much better understanding of what suits them.
If it's a shopping trip we again aim to meet for 9.30am for a coffee where I talk through the plan and what shops I would like to take them to. Every trip is pre-planned so we make the most of our time together and I choose shops to fit budget, style and shape. Both finish around lunch time, giving me time to take the dog out and then do the school pick up.
Your perfect local lunch spot would be...
I love getting up to London when I can. I think because I don't have to go there everyday I find it really exciting. I'm also a bit of a foodie and I'm meeting some Stylist friends of mine soon at the Hemsley and Hemsley cafe at the top of Selfridges. So I have a feeling this is going to be pretty perfect for me :).
The happiest moment in your day?
I love it when my husband comes home from work in the evening as I hold the fort all day with the children and it feels nice to be able to share it again when he gets in especially as that tends to be when all 3 of them want me at the same time.
The hardest moment in your day?
After school when I become mum taxi for about 2 hours and have to hope that I have remembered everything and that all children are accounted for!
#1 tip for juggling work and family life?
I think if you are working from home you have to be really strict with your time. It can so easily feel like you are working the whole time...because you probably are, but setting up times in the day for work and stopping when that time is done will help you to be more effective but also get that much needed time off to focus on other things.
Most overused word of the day?
No. We have a 5 month old French Bulldog puppy who still loves to chew most things in my kitchen and as a result the word 'no' gets used a lot right now.
Once the kids are in bed I...
Love to chill with a bit of Green & Blacks chocolate and watch an episode of GIRLS which is my new favourite boxset.
Top 3 local gems?
In Seal near Sevenoaks there is a new healthy cafe that has opened up called Birches. It's amazing and I highly recommend to anyone who is up this way. I also love taking the dog for walks in Knole Park. So lucky to have that on my doorstep and feel like I discover a new bit every time I go. I also love St Julian's club in the summer as they have 3 beautiful outside swimming pools. If you go there on a hot day it feels like you could be abroad.
Best piece of advice for fellow Mum's...
To not be scared of trying things out whilst working out what it is you want to do. I dipped my toe into lots of different jobs and opportunities over the last 6 years or so but none of them have been wasted as I feel all those experiences have helped lead me to where I am now.
