The very gorgeous Liz is the creator of Sketch.Stitch.Love and Mama to Arthur (5), Lyla (3) and her bulldog Archie! As well as designing and making all of her quirky, scented decorations (with help from her amazing Mum Hilary) Liz is also a part-time primary school teacher, tutor and face painting extraordinaire. Life is pretty busy and hectic but she wouldn't have it any other way.
What time did you wake up this morning?
7.08am (I have an obsession with the number 8 so that's the time on my alarm)
What was your very first thought of the day?
"I wonder who is in the bed when I roll over?" (Has Steven left for work or overslept and which of the children have crept in during the night?)
What are your 3 essentials for getting up, out and at 'em?
Skinny black jeans, Chelsea boots and mascara (no time for breakfast but a cup of tea and a pain au chocolat in the car sustains me for the school run)
Describe a typical morning.
Very varied as I have Mondays at home to work on my Sketch.Stitch.Love work, Tuesday and Wednesday I work a short day at school in year 6 so I can do the school and preschool runs. Thursday and Friday I am a year 1 teacher so I am out the house at 7.30am and back at 6pm. My Mum does most of my childcare so I am very lucky. At the weekend I do tutoring in the mornings and the occasional facepainting party. This time of year it's Christmas fairs too...phew!
Your perfect local lunch spot would be...
Nottcutts Restaurant with my mum and Lyla. She loves the little red door and pirate ship.
The happiest moment in your day?
Story time and cuddles before bed. (Actually, just before that we usually switch the music up loud and dance like crazy fools. Arthur loves a bit of rock'n'roll)
The hardest moment in your day?
Getting out of the house with socks and shoes on (I have been known to go out in my slippers), teeth brushed and all belongings in tow.
#1 tip for juggling work and family life?
Really enjoy the moments when you are with your children and be silly.
Most overused word of the day?
Once the kids are in bed I...
Work, work, work, check social media and work
Top 3 local gems?
Peppenbury, Grosvenor and Hilbert Park, Ventures hardware store and sweetshop in Rusthall (it has everything you will ever need and the kids can even buy individual penny sweets with their small change #justlikethegoogolddays)
Best piece of advice for fellow Mum's...
You are all amazing, especially in your child's eyes. Never fail to remember what an important job you are doing bringing up those special people. Whether you work or not, don't feel guilty. You are rockin' it.
