What to buy for Spring?
It’s March? Anyone else still in shock at the prospect of Easter being the topic at toddler groups and school? So put the shock aside and don’t think about how much you want a Cadbury Caramel Egg or how you are not yet ready for your bikini because it was January 2nd, seconds ago so think… Spring Fashion! Yes, New Season.
If there is one thing I love more than Christmas and Birthdays, it’s a new Fashion Season.
The high street is a wash with florals and rock chic. The 90s are back with vengeance and who’s best to wear it? Those that may want to correct any wrongs they made the first time of course! I always tell clients that the golden rule may have been ‘if you wore it the first time you shouldn’t wear it a second time’ but who made ‘these rules’? I say a trend always trickles up and down (fash grads you know what I mean) and in all honesty does it always come back in the same way? Never.
I think its quite clear there is a new breed of mums in 2017 and I’d like to say I’ve been an advocate for wearing whatever I want since the birth of my son 14 years ago, when the rules where quite different. This is our year mamas... so go for it.
Instead of looking longingly at the High Street windows - dive in, don’t hold back. I find it so interesting how much joy I see my clients get from clothes, once they have gone into the shops they thought were no longer for them and get shown how to wear the new season, they soon fall back in love with it all again.
Topshop is amazing this season, I have already purchased shoes that I will live in this Spring. They are shoe boots called Maddness, they come in white or black suede and I already know these are a perfect mama heel height for running the kids around and working, so what’s not to love?
They have some stunning jeans, Rock Tees and floral dresses. The best thing about SS17 is you can layer all of the above right now. Strappy Dresses over Tees and then layered over jeans is not only a good way of keeping warm this chilly spring, it is totally practical clothing. I’m loving it.
Red and Pink are the colour combo to be seen in, it’s one you may have to get used to, but wear it once and you’ll see it’s a brilliant combo that should have been done ages ago. If you’re not brave enough to invest in pieces of clothing, try adding a bright pink lippy or even a red and that will give a nod to the trend.
Things you must have:
Rock Tee (H&M or Topshop)
Trench coat (River Island, Topshop or ASOS)
Trainers (JD sport, ASOS or office) Try a pretty satin pair to keep it feminine, they have the most divine pair at ASOS.
Embellished, embroidered or floral bomber jacket (feminine tones and colours)
Things to remember:
Colour Block Bright Colours (Pink and Red or Orange and Blue)
Pastel Pinks and Pink in general
I hope that has been helpful… Go be bolder, braver and more fun. It’s only clothes but they are the clothes you choose to wear.
