Meet this weeks uber-glam Mama Amy Hatch....Mum to Bertie (1) and Step-Mum to Daisy (12) & Alfie (10). After years working as a PA in London, Amy has ploughed her passion into setting up her own vintage styling company 'Vintage Amy'. She styles venues for clients that want a vintage touch to their wedding or event, and also sells vintage treasures online. Amy will be adding an interior styling element to her business very soon so keep your eyes peeled - this lady is definitely one to watch and oh so lovely to work with.
What time did you wake up this morning?
7.00 (Bertie’s generally a good sleeper. Sorry. I have had my fair share of 5ams too)
What was your very first thought of the day?
Ooh, thanks Berts. Now time for tea.
What are your 3 essentials for getting up, out and at 'em?
Tea, blusher and a morning hello on Instagram.
Describe a typical working morning.
Tuesdays & Wednesdays are my “routine” (no such thing with a child) days, where I try and be as productive as possible. I have a very quick shower and use a whole XL can of dry shampoo before I quickly dress Bertie. Now I must confess, when I get back from the childminder I do often spend an hour sitting with more tea perusing Instagram. I am a little bit addicted. I then write a list to work out how to split my day to achieve the impossible, by fitting in PA work, a few hours on Vintage Amy (faffing, taking photos and replying to Instagram friends is definitely included in this, it’s all an essential part of the business!) and having a quick house tidy. The latter often doesn’t happen.
Your perfect local lunch spot would be...
Dependent on who with! With Bertie, we often go to M&S on the industrial estate. If I’m having me time it’s Basil in Tonbridge or Juliet’s on the High Street. Hubby and I like Sankey’s pub for lunch too (on that one time when we’ve been out for lunch together!).
The happiest moment in your day?
Picking Bertie up. He couldn’t care less when I leave him in the morning and loves it at his childminders, but when I pick him up he’s so excited to see me and get home.
he hardest moment in your day?
Meal time. Toddler meal times suck. That’s why I love Tuesdays & Wednesdays! Although I’ve recently discovered that Bertie’s fine eating out with a lot of people. So basically I just need to be a lady that lunches and all will be happy.
#1 tip for juggling work and family life?
I’m not sure I’m qualified to give one! But I guess having a bit of a routine does help. Knowing what I’ve got to get done and when I can get it done. Actually the biggest tip is GO GO GO at nap time – love a productive nap (actually I’d prefer to be napping too, but hey).
Most overused word of the day?
No. Already I’m using it so much.
Once the kids are in bed I...
Peruse Instagram, obviously. I also might do some crafting in front of the TV, if I have an event on.
Top 3 local gems?
The charity shops in Tonbridge, Juliet’s on the High St (those cakes!) and Penshurst Place in the Summer.
Best piece of advice for fellow Mum's...
Get rid of that mum guilt, there’s far too much. We are doing the best we can at the hardest job. Now anyone got any advice for taking your own advice onboard?
