This week we meet all round superstar Katie De Ioia, beautiful mama to Rafaele (4) and Minnie (2 - going on 12!) and owner of Baby Sensory Tunbridge Wells. Katie runs development classes for babies from birth - 13 months, providing a whole range of sensory activities and ideas for babies and new parents. She works on important skills for babies (physical strength, tummy time, visual development as well as tapping into the senses of sounds, touch and smell) and focuses on the parent and baby bond!
What time did you wake up this morning?
Woken up by Raffi at 7.45am
What was your very first thought of the day?
Here we go again.......
What are your 3 essentials for getting up, out and at 'em?
Shower, Bucket of Tea, and a squirt of good perfume!
Describe a typical working morning.
I usually get to my venue at about 8.20am. Unload the car (in the rain or sun) of all the equipment, usually it takes 8 trips to and from the car. Unpack the bags, setting up the 2 areas that form the Baby Sensory class, the exploratory play area and the sensory area. This usually takes about 45 mins of madness, inflating paddling pools, laying out toys and books, tents and tummy time equipment, baby gyms and soft toys. Once I'm set up I get my music on, have a quick read through my plan and relax.....I usually try and take a 5 minute walk outside as that's the last chance I will get for some fresh air until my day is done.
Your perfect local lunch spot would be...
Picnic in the woods with my children
The happiest moment in your day?
So many....! Seeing all the babies and parents that come to my classes....they become such a part of my life. And going home to my children. Raffi is usually the first one to run over for a squeeze.
The hardest moment in your day?
Getting out of bed.....and leaving my children. It has never got easier!
#1 tip for juggling work and family life?
Don't worry about having a messy house and an overflowing laundry basket! Enjoy your job and enjoy your children.....the rest can wait!
Most overused word of the day?
Usually replying to the call of Mummy with "Yes Raffi / Yes Minnie"?
Once the kids are in bed I...
Breathe! And usually start working!
Top local gem?
Arte Bianca - a deli just off the High Street in Tunbridge Wells, as an Italian it's most definitely a favourite of mine!!
Best piece of advice for fellow Mum's...
You're doing amazing! Don't sweat.
